Circuses, IndigO2 & The Hearing Impaired?

Recently I volunteered to help out with the design side of an upcoming event at the IndigO2. It’s a music event ran by a company called Sencity that organises events for the hearing impaired. There key feature is giving people the chance to experience music in alternative forms using our other senses.

The theme of this event was a retro/vintage/moulin rougé circus. I designed the leaflets to look like letterpress posters from back in the day and tried to stick to 2 colours max (apart from the obvious one where I strayed). Unfortunately these weren’t picked as the final designs but the style was liked by another member of the team (if only she was there earlier!!!) who wants me to use that style for all the posters on the inside; toilet signs, directional signage, set list and this one here for the photobooth.

More to come soon i’m sure.

Straight From The Horses Mouth (Version 2)

Here is the final publication from the Newspaper Club project. Both myself and Matt Bolton were lucky enough to have papers selected for print. We had to merge our two papers into a single body that will be used to promote the course and hopefully spark up some discussion. Here is the result.

Secret Envelopes

Here I wanted to come up with a different take on the traditional card. My jumping off point was the idea of revealing a message. I printed the message on the front of the envelope so it was barely visible, then upon opening it there is a card inside that reveals the sentiments expressed in the message on the front.

Circle Book

The French-fold book really interested me because of your ability to print 2 layers onto the same sheet. I used tracing paper and played around with this to create a geometric shape that splits when you open the pages.

Basic’s Packaging

Working at Sainsbury’s I come in contact with their products more than I would ever like to. This project was birthed due to my disliking of their Basics packaging. I wanted to design something that ‘cut the crap’ and just gave you the information you need. No misguiding pictures, no child-like hand drawn typography; just what the product is and how long you need to cook it for.
